Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at patzautodetailing@gmail.com or (310) 503-2339 if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We offer a variety of auto detailing services including exterior and interior detailing, paint correction, ceramic coatings, and more.  See our "Services" or "Specialized Services" tabs for details.

No, not at this time. Patz Auto Detailing operates from a fixed location in Sierra Madre, equipped with all the tools and equipment needed to give your car a full “auto spa” experience. If needed, arrangements for local pick-up and drop-off of your vehicle can be made.

Automotive detailing is much more than a basic car wash. Think of it as a spa treatment for your car: it involves deep cleaning, paint correction, interior restoration, and protection of your vehicle’s surfaces. Unlike a car wash, which only removes visible dirt, detailing addresses bonded contaminants, scratches, swirl marks, oxidation, and protects the car’s finish long-term.

While detailing is a larger investment than a basic car wash, the value is far greater. Detailing restores, protects, and preserves your car’s surfaces, whereas frequent car washes can gradually damage your paint and coatings. Think of it as investing in a spa treatment versus a quick rinse — the benefits last much longer.

Either when you arrive or prior to scheduling, we perform a walk-around inspection of your car to determine which services we recommend and to understand your expectations for the detailing service. Much depends on the condition of your vehicle. For the exterior, we measure the clear coat thickness to ensure that any paint correction (if needed) can be safely performed without damaging your finish. For the interior, we assess factors like stains, pet hair, and overall wear. Our goal is to educate you while customizing the services to your wants and desires. Prices are noted in the "Services" tab to give you a starting point.

Certified detailers are trained in the correct techniques, products, and tools to safely preserve and enhance your car’s finish. Unlike untrained operators, we know how to correct paint imperfections, protect surfaces, and avoid damage caused by harsh chemicals, brushes, or high-pressure jets. Choosing a certified professional is like choosing a skilled surgeon over a novice — the results last longer and maintain your vehicle’s value.

No. Even touchless or soft-cloth car washes can cause long-term damage:

  • Recycled water and harsh detergents strip protective coatings.
  • Brushes or high-pressure water create swirl marks and micro-scratches.
  • Quick blow-drying can leave fine scratches and streaks.
  • Detailing, on the other hand, safely cleans, restores, and protects your paint and interior with trained hands and quality products.

A professional detailing service includes:

  • Safe Hand-Wash: Two-bucket method, pH-balanced soaps, microfiber mitts.
  • Decontamination: Clay bars, iron removers, and other techniques remove bonded dirt.
  • Paint Correction: Eliminates swirl marks, oxidation, and minor scratches.
  • Paint Protection: Wax, sealant, or ceramic coatings shield your car from UV, water spots, and road grime.
  • Interior Detailing: Deep cleaning and conditioning of seats, carpets, and surfaces for a like-new experience.

Detailing preserves your car’s finish, prevents oxidation, keeps the paint vibrant, and protects against contaminants like tar, tree sap, and brake dust. It’s an investment in your car’s long-term value, keeping it looking newer for longer.

Frequency depends on your vehicle’s use, exposure, and environment. Many clients schedule a full detailing 1–4 times per year, with hand washes or express services in between. Regular detailing prevents long-term damage and keeps your car looking its best year-round.

At Patz Auto Detailing, you’re not just getting a car wash — you’re getting a certified, professional service that focuses on:

  • Personalized care for your vehicle.
  • Expert advice on paint correction and protection.
  • Custom solutions tailored to your car’s needs.
  • Long-lasting results that maintain value and shine.

Yes. Certified detailers can perform paint correction to remove swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and other blemishes. This process restores the car’s finish and enhances gloss, something a car wash can never do.
